  thanks to the australian royal commission our youngest son has woke up.

  we received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this.

  This is bigger than Christmas and Birthdays wrap into one. Thanks to the Australian Royal Commission our youngest son has woke up. We received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this. He is working hard to get himself and his family out of the cult. But first he needs to lie low for now so he can wake his wife up. After reading his message all we could do was hold each other and cry with tears of joy. This is a joyous day for us. I want to thank you all for all the support you have given us on this subject.

  When allowed I will give you more information but for now be happy for us in gainging a son back. 😀😁😂😄😊☺😋😀😁. Still Totally ADD

  A very interesting read Terry. I have to say as a elder for 25 years I don't ever remember any spying going on in the congregation by other elders. Not saying this did not happen but I was not aware of any. I can say when certain CO's visited our congregation they would go into a questioning session on certain individuals who walk away. Before I was appointed a elder in 1986 I remember hearing about how some elders would spy on so called wrong doer's trying to catch them in the act. Perhaps it was going on in a clandestine way by those in a higher up position such as CO's and they used the elders to reach their objective by the time I was a elder.

  I do remember a CO telling our body of elders not to go after those who walk away from the organization but I was waking up at the time and I thought this was a way to keep the elders in the dark about the truth about the truth. Again I am not saying this was not happening I am just saying I was not aware of it going on this extensively and prehaps I just to naive to see it. The real education of this cult came after I left.   Refusing to become an elder

  i know someone who's family is very spiritual and says that her brother only pioneers and does not want to become an elder for various reasons, probably not wanting to deal with people's problems, and also the tremendous workload they put on them.

  is this considered refusing advancement by god, or just choosing your own way?

  he has not been "tapped" to become one, but he merely hasn't strived to become one..

  I remember a brother who did become a elder and within one week step down because he could not handle the pressure of being a elder. I think he broke the world's record of being the shortest elder appointment ever. Lol. Still Totally ADD

  What is Dr. Who going to use if there is no phone booths? Just to let you know Terry we had a old wooden crank phone hanging on the wall when I was a child. We finally go a dial phone in 1962 which was on a party line. One ring was 2 longs and 1 short, the other was 2 longs and ours was 1 long and 2 short rings. Depending on the ring we knew who was getting a phone call. What memories. Still Totally ADD

  i found this gem in the watchtower online library that now goes further back than the year 2000 publications.

  an extra bit of evidence for those cult members that deny that their governing body gods lied to them.. even a lapel card was printed for all attendees to wear (see my avatar).

  I remember that name tag. I was 16 at the time, my parents and I just moved to FL and we went to the convention in Fort Lauderdale FL. One of the main talks and demonstration was on how bad masterbation was. I laugh at it now but I had know idea what they was talking about because I didn't know what the word masterbation meant.   Celebrating a birthday for the 1st time

  after almost a year of thinking and eh feeling, not sure... i decided to throw a small birthday party for my son.

  this feels so strange, i have never been to a birthday party.

  my husband doesn't feel comfortable with it but he decided to play along lol.

  One of the simplest ways of showing love and appreciation to family and friends was demonized by the cult. When is came to normal human behavior the cult would warp it into something's else. I feel for you Whynot I went through the same thing at first. Just have fun with the day.   firstly, i want to be crystal clear how grateful i am for jwn.

  it's been my place of support for over seventeen years and it's the first online space i direct anyone to if they are taking steps out of the cult.

  i am not bashing jwn - i love this place and appreciate the hard work and expense simon puts in to keep it going.

  If I had any part in what has gone on lately on this site punk and pale I am sorry. We Americans have a hard time thinking there is more to this world than what happens here in the U.S. I don't mine the heated debates once in awhile but it is the derogatory name calling or but downs some like to use. It's hard something's to see the whole forest when you are focus on one tree. My observation is and this includes myself the cult we all escape has effected us more than we realize. I remember the Wt. use to say many years ago "yes we are brain washed our brains are washed clean". That statement is more profound than many of us may care to acknowledge. So from other side of the pond please take care and keep coming back to site I have always enjoyed your comments. Still Totally ADD

  something i found on facebook..... a bit of interesting history reading .... enjoy ...they used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery.......if you had to do this to survive you were "piss poor".

  but worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn't even afford to buy a pot......they "didn't have a pot to piss in" & were the lowest of the low.

  the next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be.
